Muhammad Shahid

Writer, Consultant, and Editor in Peshawar, Pakistan

Associated with the media since the year 2006, I currently work for The News International, a leading Pakistani newspaper.

I am also doing my PhD in Journalism and Mass Communication and researching the political economy of media.

Previously I have also worked for Arab News, a Saudi newspaper, Daily Times, The Nation, The Frontier Post, and The Statesman.

Also, I have served various international organizations such as GIZ, UNHCR, etc in media-related roles.

Having a flair for writing and editing, I train journalism students in news writing and editing and write about issues like health, civic, culture, justice and travel/tourism spheres.

I have done a course on English-language communication skills from Georgia Tech Language Institute, the United States. In 2016, I was selected to be an alumnus of the American Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL-Dec 2016).

Besides, I won the Excellence Award in Journalism for 2016 from CEJ-IBA, Karachi in the best correspondent category across Pakistan.

As regards my skills, I can report and edit hard and soft news, as well as features and narratives. Having worked on the desk, I also know about the production of newspaper pages.

In sports, I am fond of martial art. Writing and editing are not just my job, but I enjoy it like a hobby: “When love and skill work together, expect a masterpiece.”
