Melissa Mensing

Hello, I’m Melissa. I’m a Kindergarten teacher in Spirit Lake, Iowa.

I grew up in the beautiful Black Hills where I took great advantage of the beautiful outdoors!

My secondary educational experiences included both South Dakota State University (Brookings) where I earned a degree in Early Childhood Education and Black Hills State University (Spearfish) where I graduated with an Elementary Education Degree.

My husband Dave and I moved to Spirit Lake in the Fall of 2011. We have 2 children & 1 dog; Abigail, Jackson, and our springer spaniel Lady.

My teaching experiences include 6 1/2 years as a lead teacher for Head Start Preschool and 1 year as a lead teacher in a private preschool. In 2015 I began teaching Kindergarten in the Spirit Lake School District!

I love teaching reading and math! It is an amazing responsibility to introduce little minds to so many great authors! I also enjoy creative art in my classroom; markers, paint, glue & GLITTER!!

In addition to education, I am also a huge fan of spending time with my family, coffee and traveling. I’m also interested in reading and watching & playing sports.
