Michelle Nguyen is a Master's student in the UBC School of Nursing supervised by Dr. Joy Johnson. She is the recent recipient of the Faculty of Applied Sciences Graduate Admission Scholarship and the Harriet Mallory Memorial Award. Michelle completed her BSc in Cell Biology and Genetics in 2006 and her BSc in Nursing in 2010. Over the past two years, she has worked as a Cardiac RN and Heart Failure patient educator at St. Paul's Hospital. She is also actively involved in Nursing Practice Council, the Metabolic Monitoring Working Group, and quality improvement initatives in the Transcatheter Heart Valve program.

In her graduate work, Michelle is currently investigating the association between patient frailty and length of stay following transcatheter aortic valve implantation. She plans to begin her doctoral studies at UBC in September 2014.
