Matt Silver

I am msilver at gmail dot com and I am a constant target of reverse identity theft (http://xkcd.com/1279), because every other "M*Silver" thinks my email address is theirs.

It does lead to some interesting reading, family photos, legal documents, nursing certificates, dating site signups and cancellations, car warranty surveys, right-wing and left-wing political newsletters, and SO MANY purchase receipts.

I try to send a postcard everytime someone accidentally sends me their address (three times to date).

I currently live and work in Sacramento, CA. I have worked in IT support for almost 15 years.

Here's an unordered list of software I've used or administered:

OS X (and OS X Server), Windows 7, Windows Server 20(03|08|12), A few flavors of Linux, some stabs at Solaris, ChromeOS, iOS, Android, Zimbra Collaboration Suite, Asterisk, Google Apps, Atlassian Crowd, Confluence and JIRA (I got to tech review Practical JIRA Administration for O'Reilly Media), VMWare, Mediawiki, a little Puppet, a little Apache, Netvault Backup, BackupPC, Adobe's Creative Suite, Salesforce... If an end-user uses it, I've probably supported it at some point.

I am a hobbyist rock drummer, playing drums now for over 20 years, in over a dozen garage rock (rock practiced in garages) bands. Two bands I'm in recently were nominated for the 2015 Sammies!

I enjoy complicated tabletop games of various sorts, and my favorite chocolate bar is the Ritter Sport Dark Chocolate and Marzipan.
