Myriam Oualit Siraj

Orlando, FL

My name is Myriam Oualit Siraj. I have been teaching ELCATE (English Literacy for Career And Technical Education) to adult ESOL students in Orange County, FL, for seven years. I believe learning a second language is a challenge to our ESOL population. I believe in blended learning since I deal with old and new generations of learners.

I have always been fascinated by languages. I speak five of them, Arabic, French, Spanish, English, and Italian. I will have to admit that my knowledge of languages brings me closer to my students because I can relate to their situations since I am one of them. I was born in Africa and came to the States 19 years ago.

I am very interested in blogging about ESOL students and the many ways to help them grasp the English language and help them integrate the American culture through educational technology.
