Johanna Maahlo
Student and Volunteer in Johannesburg, Jeppe's Town
My name is Johanna Modjadji Maahlo, a Fourth-year student at UJ(University of Johannesburg) doing Bachelor of Education. My focus is on School ICT Support and Sepedi, an African language of the Bapedi tribe.
My university path has been an engaging investigation of Africa's diverse linguistic legacy and rich cultural heritage. The unique qualities of diverse African languages, as well as how they play a part in defining identities and strengthening connections across communities, have a very captivating effect on me.
School ICT support has also allowed me to explore the exciting world of educational technology. I take great pleasure in supporting educators and pupils during my teaching practicals in maximizing the potential of digital tools to improve the educational process. I am committed to establishing a productive and online educational environment, from resolving technical problems to putting innovative ideas into practice.
Outside of the classroom, I consider myself to be an inclusive person and I enjoy taking part in cultural events that are usually held at the University. Furthermore, I like to take part in the community engagement programs at UJ, where we visit hospitals and schools, helping pupils with their homework. Sometimes helping around campus. This had a great impact on improving my communication and collaboration skills. Thus, knowing how to work with people with different personalities.
What I like doing most in my free time is cooking, baking, and watching the news.
