Mac Greene

The sun was just beginning to set over Atlanta as the band members walked across the stage on that Saturday in 2011. The crowd roared with excitement at the sight of the two men who composed the up-and-coming rock band, The Black Keys. Little did the two know that they had inspired an onlooker with their performance, soaked with soul and groovy bass lines. From that moment on, I knew what I wanted to do with my life.
I was not new to guitar, but had previously lacked the passion that becoming an exceptional guitarist requires. I began my work immediately, teaching my sister, Lily Greene, how to keep a beat on the tubs and skins. Meanwhile, I, Mac Greene, was busy at work learning and creating music on the guitar. Before long, Dos Verdes (Two Greens) was born. We began to entertain guests and family members in our home, and eventually began to play at local events in our town in Clarkesville, Georgia.
Being on stage gave me a rush like nothing I had felt before. Before every show, my excitement would get a hold of me, but as I began to play, the nerves would leave and the music would take over. Emotions otherwise left unattended would come be let free as bliss filled my body. Playing my instrument in front of people gives me a high that could not be reproduced any other way.
It is always comforting to know my guitar will always be there for me. As I grow older, I know I will continue to play and grow as a musician through my experiences, and I am looking forward to the day when I will inspire others with my music and performances the way others have inspired me.
