Maceo M. Cabrera Estevez
Oakland
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York by Cuban parents, Maceo always had a unique flair that somehow got her out of making too much trouble. A published writer and performance artist she now resorts to making up elaborate stories to her children and playing different characters while reading Dr. Seuss books.
She is always changing, growing, believing and loving. Mother, wife, daughter, friend, writer, student, Muslim convert, American, Cuban: a believer.
Maceo could let you know where she has been published but that would be boring; it is more fun knowing that in the middle of nighttime nursing she thinks of amazing first lines and fights herself to type them into her phone. One day they will go on the page. One day. InshaAllah.
