Philip "MAC" McCulloch

I currently reside in Galveston, TX with my fiancé and four dogs. I strive every day to help my fellow veterans while working on a book outlining my experiences in Afghanistan.
I was born in Tucson, AZ, and was raised in Galveston, TX. June 6th, 2006 Ireported to MCRD San Diego for training with 1st Recruit Training Battalion. Private McCulloch reported to School of Infantry Camp Pendleton.
In November of 2006, a Private I reported to Third Battalion Seventh Marines in 29 Palms, CA. I was promoted to Private First Class in Dec. of 2006. In 2007 I deployed to Ar Ramadi Iraq, while on deployment I was promoted to Lance corporal. After returning from deployment, I attended Infantry Squad Leaders Course and graduated as Honor Squad. In March of 2008 I was promoted to Corporal meritoriously. Two months later I was meritoriously promoted to Sargent. I deployed again in 2008 to Haditha Iraq where I served as a squad leader.
In October 2009 I was ordered to report to Third Battalion Fifth Marines in Camp Pendleton, CA. There I served as a Machine Gun Section Leader and Rifle Squad Leader. Afterwards I was deployed to Sangin Afghanistan where I served as a Rifle Squad Leader. During this deployment with 3/5 I was injured twice in combat operations. Upon Third Battalion Fifth Marines return from Afghanistan, I attended Sergeants Course at the Staff Noncommissioned Officer Academy in Camp Pendleton, CA and graduated as the class First Sergeant.
In Dec 2011 I graduated Drill Instructor School and was assigned to Mike Company, 3d Recruit Training Battalion Recruit Training Regiment, MCRD San Diego for duty as a Drill Instructor.
I medically retired April 29th 2013 from the Marine Corps due to injuries sustained in combat.
My personal awards include the Silver Star, Purple Heart with one gold star in lieu of second award and Combat Action Ribbon with one gold star in lieu of second award.
I currently reside in Texas and I'm engaged to Lindsey Hutton of Galveston, TX.
