Growing up, my favorite time of year was School Supply Shopping Season. You know the girl who had a backpack jammed full of notebooks and pencils weeks before school actually started? That’d be me.
Hi. My name is Maddie, and I still equate fall with the smell of a fresh notebook and newly sharpened pencils. I’ve always had a desire to learn, a necessary trait in the ever-changing field of social media.
In 2010, before I even realized that what I was doing had anything to do with social media marketing, I utilized Twitter to make a connection with a blogger I admired and landed a fantastic internship managing her organization’s social channels. Through that internship, I learned about the impressive marketing capabilities of social media and realized I could grow a career out of doing something I love.
As the Associate Manager of Digital Integration at Wells Enterprises, I closely manage and monitor all Wells brands—including Blue Bunny Ice Cream and The Original Bomb Pop—in the social and digital space. I’m responsible for making sure our digital and social strategic goals are met, and preferably, exceeded. Bonus: I can also fire off answers to Facebook messages (“Why can’t I find Vanilla in my grocery store?”) at warp speed.
I've also spent the last few years growing my own business, Mad Photo & Design. My relationship with photography started with a college class I hated and ended with me staying up way too late at night teaching myself new techniques via blogs and Youtube tutorials. Once I convinced people to trust me with their family portraits, the love just grew. Photography gives me a great creative outlet, but also the opportunity to learn even more about business and marketing, skills that have only helped me in my career.
I'm a South Dakotan at heart, and just moved back to the great plains from Iowa, alongside my husband Jeff and our golden retriever, Rue. I love The Big Bang Theory, mourn the epic loss of Breaking Bad, worship coffee and the caffeine that sustains me, and am a connoisseur of Bloody Mary's everywhere...preferably the ones that contain bacon.
