Maddie Severance

I am a current undergraduate student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology graduating in June of 2017 with a BS in electrical engineering and computer science. Over the summer and during this semester, I have been working with the Chancellor of MIT to analyze and automate freshmen housing assignments. We have built optimization models and designed algorithms to better account for every freshman's preferences. When I'm not sitting behind a computer, I'm training and competing with the varsity swim team and hanging out with my sisters of Alpha Phi.

I am passionate about innovation and technology used to solve human problems and to help others. I am enthusiastic to learn more about software engineering and hope to intern at a startup this summer to gain a broader and deeper range of knowledge. My drive, dedication, and creativity show in my hard work ethic and desire to always be doing something. I will push and challenge myself, yet still know when to take a break and have fun. I know technology has the ability to make our futures the brightest they can be, and I hope to contribute to that cause.
