Narayanan Madhavan, senior journalist, columnist and editor, has more than 25 years of experience in journalism in Indian and international news organisations. He is currently a senior editor at Hindustan Times. He earlier spent 12 years in Reuters, the international news agency, where he covered a range of issues from the Kargil war and general elections to being the Chief Technology Correspondent and Bangalore bureau head. He has previously worked for The Economic Times and later at Business Standard and was for a brief period Senior Editor in the Indian Express group
Though focused mainly on business and economic journalism with a strong exposure to information technology and the Internet, he has also covered or written on other issues including politics, diplomacy, cinema, culture, cricket and social issues.
He has covered India's economic reform and the information technology boom from the frontlines in Delhi and Bangalore during their crucial years and also covered leading events such as the nuclear tests and India-Pakistan conflict.
He likes to study and write on popular culture, and loves cinema and music in various forms. In addition to English, speaks Hindi, Tamil. Occasional poet who has written what he believes to be India's first current affairs column in verse.
