swimmer in Traralgon
Hey, I’m Madi. I’m a swimmer living in Traralgon. My interests include swimming, travelling, going to the movies, hanging out with my friends, coaching little kids at my local pool and baking.
I am in Cam's squad. I have been in Cam's squad for about a year and a half. Cam has helped me with my aerobic fitness and helps me swim longer events like the 800 and 1,500. I also train with Dean three out of my eight sessions. Both coaches but especially Dean has helped me develop my skills. In my earlier years of swimming Brian Ford, who is also the head coach, and owner of the club coached me. Brian coached me when I was in the junior development and gippy squad. He helped me learn all the basic skills of swimming. Another one of my coaches was Steve. Steve was a great coach for me has he built my confidenance in swimming but also talking to other people. He also helped me learn how to swim with speed and when I need to go fast or slow and built on my basic skills and technique. He also started to get my swimming fitness up. All of my coaches helped shape me into the swimmer and person I am today.
Swimming has taught me many great things/qualities/vaules. It has taught me to be responsible, respectful, it has taught me leadership skills, how to speak to people and not be as shy as I was before but most importantly it has taught me to stand up for what is right. My responsibility for swimming is that I need to be on time, have all my stuff with me (which means my wetbag for training as well as my normal bag but also at competitions I need to have my race suit, spare bathers/clothes, spare towels, healthy food, I need to keep eating and many other things). As well as at competitions its shows me how to be responsible with after competitions as well as after competitions, for example after I race I need to wash/soak my race suit so that it doesn't ruin the fabric. This makes me for responsible for my belongs and take care of things I have used. Swimming taught me to be respectful as it taught me the 5 important things I need to say everyday (hello, goodbye, sorry, please and thank you). It has also taught me to use peoples names when addressing them. Now that I am considered an older swimming I ‘ take care’ of the younger members of the club whether it be leading or taking little girls to the bathroom it has shown me how to help other and be a good leader.
