Maeve Sharkey
Student, Consultant, and Mother in NJ
For many companies, it's the work ethic that creates a negative work environment. However, with positive leadership skills, this will change.
Hi! My name is Maeve and I am an active student at my local high school. I am a student-athlete at my school for two cheerleading teams, with a high honor roll GPA. I have accomplished going to nationals for my cheerleading team and being a local champion team for my school. I am employed at a local farm on the weekends part-time, and full-time as a hostess at a favorite local restaurant. In my free time, I volunteer my time for a local cheerleading organization, Twin Boro Bears, to teach younger girls.
In my time volunteering for Twin Boro Bears, I have been able to increase my communication skills. In Twin Boro Bears, it is my responsibility as a volunteer to create a routine for young girls. I must communicate effectively with the coaches to create a goal for the team and pursue that goal. During school, I have been selected to be a PALS leader. In PALS, I am a leader for a group of underclassmen through team bonding and trust building activities. As a PALS leader, I have learned several leadership skills that will be helpful in the future. Another skill of mine is being hard-working. Being a student-athlete, taught me how to be hard working for what I want to achieve.
