Magdalena Plewa (PhD) graduated from AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków, Poland and participated in postgraduate studies in Music Production and Recording at the University of Stavanger in Norway. In 2015 she participated in a recording program at the Banff Centre for the Arts (Canada) where she worked with artists such as Ceri Jones, Laura Dickens, Claire Chase, deuair and many more. She defended PhD thesis at Gdańsk University of Technology in Poland. Her work discusses Music Information Retrieval and she is also making connections between science and practical applications in the field of audio technology.

Magdalena loves acoustic music, especially jazz, ethno, folk and singer-songwriters. She has experience as a band manager and has also worked as a live sound and live recording engineer. She has toured around Europe with artists such as Annalie Wilson, Stina Kjelstad and QuadroSusanna.

For the past few years, Magdalena has been an active member of the Audio Engineering Society, where she was Coordinator of Education&Student Events during AES Conventions in the US and Europe, as well as Vice Chair of AES Education Committee and currently Governor.

Outside of work, she’s a very enthusiastic tennis player and skiing instructor. To relax Magdalena practices knitting and sewing, and enjoys cooking and reading.
