MSc Student and Fisheries Scientist in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada
I am a Marine Biologist originally form Hampton New Brunswick but currently residing in St. John's Newfoundland where I'm working towards my Master's in Fisheries Science and Technology at theFisheries and Marine Institute of Memorial University
I completed my Bachelor's of Science at the University of New Brunswick Saint John. While there I conducted research which focused on assessing the possible effects salmon aquaculture may have on the abundance and growth of juvenile american lobster in the Bay of Fundy. I also worked as a field technician for the Canadian Rivers Institute. This helped spark my interest in both marine and fresh water biology and conservation.
My current work relates to finding ways to improve the sustainability and efficiency of fisheries at a gear level. To do this, I collect and use underwater video to observe how fish react to new potting technologies. More specifically, I've been usingunderwater video to asses the use of new potting technology to fish Greenland Halibut (Turbot) in the Baffin Bay and David Strait.
I have a strong interest and passion for research dedicated to fisheries management and marine conservation.
