carpenter and wood in denmark

Hello, I’m Magnus. I’m a carpenter living in denmark. I am a fan of design, outdoors, and wood. I’m also interested in DIY and
Danish furniture.

For nearly 40 years, I have worked with various types of woodworking. Trained as a carpenter at Den Jyske Håndværkerskole, I have specialized in everything from classic furniture making to modern woodworking techniques. Currently, I blog for Nordisk Planke in Nørresundby, sharing my knowledge about wood species, sustainability, and craftsmanship traditions. Writing for Nordisk Planke allows me to focus on topics I’m passionate about, such as oak tables and the finer details of plank furniture.

For me, woodworking is not just about technique but also about respecting the material and its history. I have always been fascinated by wood’s unique properties and how it transforms from raw nature to functional, stylish solutions in everyday life.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time in nature with my dog, Flip Flap. Outdoor life has always been important to me, and I frequently take part in events where craftsmanship and nature go hand in hand. At home, I have a small workshop in my garage where I experiment with new ideas and refine my techniques, benefiting both my professional projects and personal hobbies.

Woodworking is more than just a job—it’s a passion that I love sharing, whether through my work or the projects I create in my own workshop.

I also have a close circle of friends who share my passion for craftsmanship. We often go on hikes, participate in outdoor events, and work on creative projects together. These friendships mean a lot to me, providing both inspiration and companionship.

Currently, I am writing a book about woodworking, combining technical knowledge, practical techniques, and personal experiences from nearly four decades in the field. My goal is to create an inspiring and useful guide for both new and experienced carpenters, covering everything from wood selection and traditional joinery to modern design principles and sustainability in craftsmanship.
