Maia discovered that she wanted to be an actress at the age of six, when she played Mr. Mole in a play about recycling. Fast forward a few years later, Maia has performed with the BATS (Flea Theater), Woolly Mammoth Theater, Skeleton Rep, Fresh Ground Pepper, Columbia University, UglyRhino, Player's Theater, CityShow, Lexington Ensemble, Manhattan Rep, and Theater Memphis. She has taken classes in film acting (Adrienne Weiss), method acting (Elizabeth Kemp at the Actor's Studio), voice (Carole Blankenship), Shakespeare (Claire Warden, Sybille Bruun-Moss, Nick Hutchinson), and stage combat (Cookie Ewing). She is SAG eligible.

Her plays have been produced at the PIT, the Lynn Redgrave Theater (Fresh Ground Pepper), Littlefiend (UglyRhino), and Manhattan Rep. Her full-length play, "We Were Children" is going to premiere this July at the Hudson Guild Theatre in association with Theater Thespis. Her SAG short film, "Broken", is currently in post-production.

Maia graduated with honors in gender studies from Rhodes College with a BA in English Lit/Creative Writing and Theatre with a minor in Film. While at Rhodes, Maia was awarded the Clifton Scholarship to study abroad at St. John's, Oxford University, where she took classes in Shakespeare, Women in Medieval Literature, and Medieval Drama.

She currently lives in NYC, and is owned by a cat named Pearl.
