Maisya Farhati

Maisya Farhati -- fondly known as Icha -- is an Economics graduate from Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Indonesia. She has experienced working with public and private sector as well as NGO.

In April 2011 - June 2012, she joined Yayasan Gerakan Indonesia Mengajar (Indonesia Teach Movement), an effort from Indonesian youths to fulfill the shortage of elementary school teachers in remote areas in Indonesia. She served in Bawean Island, a small beautiful island between Java and Borneo. That one year was unforgettable and has taught her many lessons in life: struggle, diversity, tolerance, etc.

In her spare time, Icha likes to spend time with the people she cares about, as well as doing what she enjoys the most: reading, writing and traveling. She also puts her interests on cultural exchange and globalisation and development issues.

Starting September 2013, she studies at the University of Groningen, Netherlands, for her master's degree in International Economics and Business. This study attracted her interest for it explores how public and private sector maximise the benefit of globalisation and international value chains. Previously she worked with APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) Indonesia.
