Makeela Searles
As a Patient Service Coordinator at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Makeela Searles greets patients and checks them in. As New England’s largest and oldest hospital, “Mass General,” founded in 1811, maintains 900 beds and a consistent ranking by U.S. News & World Report as one of the nation’s top five hospitals. In addition to receiving patients and verifying their clinical and personal information, Makeela Searles schedules tests, logs telephone calls, and arranges escorts to testing areas when necessary. In her first three years at the hospital, she received two promotions. Prior to joining Massachusetts General Hospital, Makeela Searles served as an Office Assistant at Mercury Rising Development & Construction in Belmont, Massachusetts. In this capacity, she directed incoming calls, handled vendor requests, and acted as office support for the staff. Additionally, Makeela Searles set project management appointments, coordinated office supply procurement, and assisted in preparation of documents and proposals. Makeela Searles’ previous employment included more than two years at the Royal Westmoreland golf resort in Barbados, where she became a Café Attendant. As such, she balanced daily transactions, ordered stock, and delivered excellent customer service. Previously, as a Phone Technician at Barbados Business Machines Ltd., Makeela Searles interacted as part of a team to improve service. Her duties included programming cellular phones, processing phones for return, and implementing virus protection programs. Makeela Searles first developed her customer service skills as a Waitress at the Brown Sugar Restaurant in Barbados. After completing secondary school in Barbados, Makeela Searles attended Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic in Barbados and Northeastern University in Boston. She currently studies business management at Bunker Hill Community College in Boston, which offers more than 100 certificate programs and associate degrees. When not engaged in career or educational pursuits, Makeela Searles enjoys shopping and cooking.
