You hear many people give the answer, “friends and family”, when asked what is important to them. I consider myself a person who values originality however, when asked what is important in my life I would have to agree with this common response.

I am apart of a family of four: my parents, my sibling, and myself (of course). I am the youngest by eight years to my older sister, Makayla. Growing up with our age gap was something that I have been told to be grateful for, but ultimately something I wish I could change. Yes; it was nice not fighting over clothes, toys, or friends because that isn’t something anyone craves with their sibling. How I see it – I was basically an only child. My sister moved out after she graduated high school when I was in fifth-grade. Since that moment, I didn’t have anyone to bother with pointless questions about her super cool teenage life or make fun of our parents embarrassing quirks and actions. Loosing a sibling was tough since it caused me to feel alone and bored in my own home.

When I came to college I knew I wanted to join greek life to gain a sisterhood that I truly missed having. I joined Zeta Tau Alpha and have been able to fill those holes I previously felt from my sister leaving. Bothering my friends in zeta with pointless questions and raiding their closets for the perfect outfit is the simple things about having a sister relatively near my age that I had been craving for so long.
