Makhosazana Gugulethu Ntsele

I am a third year pre-service educator specializing in Life science and Physical science. I am also a developing action researcher committed to continuously improving my own teaching practice through reflection. My mission is to make science fun and simple for every learner.

My teaching philosophy is deeply rooted in the constructivist approach and critical pedagogy. I believe that science education should increase genuine interest and develop critical thinking within the learner. I aim to prioritize interactive learning activities that will be mostly facilitated through guided inquiry, collaboration and reflection.

I strive to create an inclusive classroom where every individual’s voice is valued and where learners ask many questions. This is because I am deeply passionate about helping learners develop the creative and analytical thinking skills that they can use in their future careers.

I try to practice my teaching philosophy when I tutor. I tutor high school learners online. I have tutored second year students in Teaching Methodology and Practicum. I have also helped develop the confidence of first year students on how to approach Life science 1A for FET teaching. They have shown great improvement, and I am still currently tutoring them now.

Beyond academics, I serve as a deputy chairperson for the SACE Ambassadors , a faculty selected group entrusted by the South African council of educators to promote professional teaching standards. I had the privilege of speaking on these standards at the May 2025 colloquium in Vanderbijlpark.

Additionally, on the side, I am learning to play tennis and getting back into reading and writing. I believe the best educators never stop being learners themselves
