MAKSIM EGOROV

Born in the industrial capital of Russia, Yekaterinburg city in 1988, Maksim Egorov was obliged to grow up in the gray scenery, while fighting winter’s frost. This lack of colors, probably influenced his manner of visual perception. He sees the world as an interconnection of images and colors. Having never followed a specific art education, Maksim became a self-made artist through some chains of dramatic events. At the age of 11, he lost his close friend in a terrible accident, just before his eyes. It was a call to action. Some family problems added fuel to the fire triggering his drawing impulse. After his clinical death at the age of 16, he devoted himself entirely to art.

Success wasn’t long incoming. The 'free-of-cliché spirit' is always welcome. First prizes at local competitions and numerous personal exhibitions, were a bright start of a sparkling destiny to this artist. But all that glitters is not gold. Maksim considers the true art impossible without suffering. “Paintings are like children: the reproduction process hurts physically and emotionally. Pain is a necessary injection for creativity”. A deep depression in his twenties made him run away abroad. He searched for shelter and new inspiration for his wounded soul. Traveling always helps him find the answers to essential questions about life and society.

Russia and its culture gave Maksim his regard and way of thinking. Europe inspired him to set goals and hunt for new styles. Asia presented him with brand-new color combinations and an "I-don't-care" approach to creation and life. China influenced Maksim the most. It's here that he found his arts' potential, changed his credit and finally settled down.

Each of his painting is a short story written in the language of feelings. His preferred materials are oil colors, acrylics and other drawing materials. Experiments with styles and techniques are possible and desirable. During the creation process, stories come to his head and he generates them on a hunch into final images, using colors and shapes. "A picture is not about it's appeal to people, it’s about evoking their feelings." This conception of the artist's purpose, makes Maksim Egorov an extraordinary one indeed. “Human life is extremely more interesting and has much more sense than we suppose. That's why I draw...”
