Malaya Fletcher is the Global Migration & Monitoring Coordinator at the Philadelphia Department of Public Health, Division of Disease Control. Her work primarily focuses on emerging infectious diseases, surveillance, and travel health.

As an emergency planner and epidemiologist, her scientific interests include global health security, utilizing mixed methods research to improve outbreak preparedness and response, and integrating emergency management with routine public health functions. Global health experiences include conducting capacity assessments at district hospitals in Ghana, and qualitative research on maternal-child health in India.

Malaya received an MPH in epidemiology and global health from Columbia University (2012). She also has a BS in microbiology from Arizona State University.

When she’s not geeking out about diseases, data, and the societal implications of a post-apocalyptic world, you can find her at a nearby climbing gym or biking along the Schuylkill River.
