You have completed your tour of Kuala Lumpur. Next on your itinerary list is the charming state of Melaka. If you are yet to decide on your travelling options, know that you can reach there quicker and much more conveniently by hopping onto an express bus that will drop you off at the ‘Historic State’ within an hour and a half.

Want to save up on more time? Don’t think, just take tickets online from redbus and collect the pass at the terminal. Now that you have your travelling plans sorted, your first day in Melaka, must be spent by hitting these following places:

Donald and Lily’s:Established in 1980 and serving delicious traditional Nyonya cuisine since then, this popular restaurant has even been featured in the New York Times magazine. Do try the slightly spicy Mee Siam with its well-done fish cakes, egg slices and cockles.

Nyonya Makko Restaurant:Another one that serves highly recommended Nyonya cuisine, the Sambal sotong petai is a must try with the beans and squid being quite fresh every time you place an order.

Nancy’s Kitchen:It has a nice, friendly atmosphere that complements the cuisine served wonderfully. A must try dish here is the Loh bak—delicious pan-fried pork rolls wrapped in bean curd sheets.

Geographer Café:All designed with natural greenery, quirky decor, a trendy bar that dominates the interior, high tables and chairs, Geographer Cafe has been attracting a steady audience for years.

Limau-Limau Café: This is a quirky lime green painted bistro with a definite upmarket ambience. Soft jazz music accompaniments and ice cold pints make it a favourite spot for weary visitors to unwind during the scorching afternoons.

The Baboon House: It is a laidback burger joint with an open-air courtyard and greenery climbing up the walls, spacious comfy seating arrangements, and comprehensive furnishings.
