I am a passionate trail runner, adventurer and fundraiser for good causes. Nothing excites me more than embarking on an epic mission that will challenge my physical and mental boundaries. Now in my 50's I'm no spring chicken but I am an ardent believer in the "use it or lose it" approach to life and if I can inspire other people to get out there and use the physical & mental powers they are blessed with then so much the better.

In 2009 I became the first person ever to run NZ's 7 mainland 'Great Walks' in 7 days and through that and a subsequent '7in7' adventure raised $260,000 for Leukaemia & Blood Cancer NZ.

In 2012 I completed the 1,014 km long South West Coast Path in the UK in a record time of 17 days and won a Local Hero Medal in the New Zealander of the Year Awards.

In 2015 I ran some 1,700kms through rough Kiwi backcountry and climbed 50 peaks in 50 days to raise $510,000 for the Mental Health Foundation NZ (see www.high50.org.nz) and won Wilderness Magazine's 'Outdoor Hero of the Year' award.

My first book, One Step Beyond, was published by Penguin in March 2013. I am currently working on a second.

I am available for motivational speaking engagements - email [email protected] if you'd like to discuss how I can help inspire your team.
