Melissa Leming
Hola!
I am a second year student at the University of Georgia, studying Social Work.
I was born and raised in Marietta, Georgia alongside my older sister, Jessica. My dad is a double lung transplant patient and has been sick the majority of my life. I learned to be independent at a very young age due to this. My dad is the ultimate handyman and perhaps even a superhero. We built my car together when I was 15 years old. I drive a 66 Ford Bronco and it’s worth every bit of frustration it can cause at times.
I love the water and rowing. I was on UGA's Crew team last year and was privileged to be in the top four of the girl's team, bringing in two first place and one second place medal.
I am a Christian. I am involved with the UGA Wesley Foundation in Athens and I’m on Freshley Leadership, leading a freshmen girls small group, which takes place on Monday nights. Apart from ministry in Athens, I have an ongoing mission project in Chimbote, Peru where I work with various people groups but mainly battered women. I have traveled there six times in the past couple years and have grown to adore the culture and the Spanish language. This coming summer I will be leading my first mission team.
As for now, I love being in Athens and the friends that I have here. God is radical…
