I specialize in lexical variation, its documentation and description. I am particularly interested in informal language. I hold a Ph.D. from the University of Gdańsk. I have conducted research at such academic centers as Columbia University, UCLA and, as visiting professor, at UC Berkeley. Currently I am Assistant Professor of Linguistics at the Pomeranian Academy (Akademia Pomorska).

I have authored or co-authored several books, including: The Dictionary of Spanish Loanwords in American Slang (2015), Bazinga! A Dictionary of Colloquial English Interjections (2014), Americanisms (2013), Black Lexicon (2012), The Dictionary of City Names in American Slang (2011) and Slang UG (2010).
