As I stare through my glasses at the stonewall in front of me, I feel a strange pull in my stomach. I had walked and sweat all day in the heat to reach this point. Now for no obvious reason I became nervous. Slowly walking closer and closer to the wall I realized that every obstacle was made for one reason—to be conquered. So I jammed my foot between the rocks and lifted my body. Stone after stone I struggled to elevate my weight to the top; but when I reached the top, I understood why I had tried so hard to get there. Feelings of accomplishment and awe washed over me, at that moment I knew I wanted to achieve that feeling as much as I possibly could.
Working at Camp Fatima is my proudest accomplishment. Camp Fatima is a camp for special needs people from ages 14 to well into their 80s attend. Each camper stays at camp for a span of 6 days, 5 nights. As a counselor I am responsible, along with my co-counselor, for 10-12 campers for the week. We particpate in many different activities including: swimming, dancing, playing sports, eating, singing, ect. The week is long and full of hard work, but extremely rewarding in the end--just like reaching the top of that stonewall.
