Convenient Solutions For dental equipments
They do continue longer compared to stainless steel bearings found in the recent past. Nonetheless most sealed ceramic bearings in my own repairs are continuing between one to six months, whom I see.
Example: I have one client that will not lube their hand pieces. About 4 to 6 weeks, with stainless steel bearings their repair would last. Their service rate has grown to six to seven months after converting them. Yet this can vary considerably depending on custom and brand.
I have another client that also doesn't lube their hand pieces. Likely since the brand of hand piece was sold as a hand piece that is lube to them. Using ABEC7 rated ceramic bearings in their own repair they get about six weeks service. This is a terrible quantity of time using a posture that is very good.
These customers are getting much additional time between rebuilds using the exact same bearings as well as the same drills. The best procedure seems to be to set 3 or 4 drops of hand piece oil in the air hole and one or two drops in the chuck. Then run the hand piece until all oil is expelled. Next lube it again before storage and then sterilize.
That is just a bit more work but it is really worth it if your rebuild expenses can cut in half. This process is being recommended by me to all of my clients.
I involve some ideas about why. Is it likely that the air pressure is being adjusted to compensate to get a poor "O" ring in the hand bit.
If so this would explain the the bearings sheared off at the inner race after just six weeks.
Also the drills that use clips and washers will remain cleaner. Impeller and the chuck will run smoother causing less stress. The lube can get to the bearings drawing out their life also if the seal warps.
