Manda Cawthon

educator and oboist in Augusta, Georgia

I am an instructional specialist with the Richmond County School System. This is my fifth year teaching first grade. Before becoming an instructional specialist four years ago, I taught first grade and fifth grade language arts. I love my job and I am happy to go to work every day.

I have a M.Ed. in instructional technology from Georgia Southern University and a B.Mus. in music education from the University of Georgia. I have endorsements in teacher support and coaching, reading, and dyslexia.

After graduating from UGA, I taught music in Georgia and North Carolina. I also taught P.E., health, and drama. I have had the pleasure of teaching children in preschool, elementary school, middle school, and high school. After teaching music for a few years, I chose to stay home with my children for 12 years before accepting a job in Richmond County.

I have a very supportive husband, four amazing children, and two very spoiled dogs. I am very happy sitting in an orchestra playing oboe. I love spending time outdoors and being active. I also enjoy playing board games with my family and curling up with a good book on a rainy day.
