As a young Indian lady from a conservative background, I was expected to conform to the unwritten social norms for Indian women. So, I got married when still in a college, studying English literature as my special paper. It was socially arranged. I had always felt myself drawn to literature and language studies from my school days and did not want to stop my academic journey. So I had to strike a fine balance between home and education.
However, my love for English language and passion for its vast literary tradition inspired me to complete my Graduation with English Hon's. Later, I completed my Post Graduation in English with American literature as my special paper.
I am an English teacher in Senior Secondary classes. I have also been a Communicative English guest lecturer in Indira Gandhi National Open University.
In my present school, my class-room interaction with the
teenagers expose me to their individual and social challenges and crises. It provides me with the opportunity to understand their mind better. The English teachers in the Indian Schools and colleges face diverse challenges while teaching English in their multilingual class-rooms. Anyway, it is also a fun to figure out ways to reach out to these students from varied backgrounds and make them feel the magic of English language in our story-telling sessions. I try to procure DVDs on good films and documentaries to expose my students to them and connect their class-room teaching to real life experiences.

I always had a penchant for writing on varied issues while I made my contributions to small magazines. I have already joined the Ezine Magazine as a member and nine of my articles have been published by them. Their Review Board has honored me with the certificate of Expert Author. I have also received a badge as a Scholarly Author from Ezine. However, I am also interested to contribute to the genre of fiction writing and memoirs.

However, to write well, I feel, I need to travel and know more about this changing world and its people. So , recently I have completed my TEFL certification. Now I am also looking for an opening to teach English abroad in foreign class-rooms not only to enrich my experience as a teacher but also know life better in a bigger ambience!

Life, to me, is a cherished dream to be fulfilled. Keep moving.. Amen!
