Restoring Girl Child Dignity Campaign is an initiative that seeks to inspire and develop a successful force for needy girl child in the community who will change Africa’s future. Founded in August, The ‘Restoring Dignity’ Campaign aims to stop ridicule and give back young girls their dignity; to reduce infections amongst women and girls; to increase girls’ attendance in school; and keeping them in the classrooms where they belong.
The main aim for this movement is to provide a platform where the entire nation can engage by giving new ideas on topical issues that affect the girl child, engaging girls in inspirational talks and supporting them by providing them with sanitary pads and pants. The campaign also seeks to provide room for the establishment of mentorship opportunities for the girls as well as host a girls’ camp themed around ‘my life my dignity’. It is hoped through the above mentioned activities, there will be an improvement in self-esteem among the girls and especially those from urban slums such as Kibera, Mathare, Korogocho and Kayole among others - there will be a reduction of absenteeism in school. The platform will also bring together more interaction and collaboration of entrepreneurs, mentors, partners, investors and other technologists to work towards the support of the movement and therefore work together towards achieving a common goal. The bringing together all the stakeholders can help in bringing change in the community.
