Manik Gupta

I currently serve as an advisor and investor to startups based in the US and India.

I have built the products that have helped millions of people discover the world, most recently serving as the Chief Product Officer at Uber. A key member of the executive team, I helped lead the company through its May 2019 IPO and helped the company grow to more than 100 million monthly active platform customers across Uber’s services. My 1100-person organization spanned Product Management, Data Science, Data Analyst, Design and Program Management functions. Prior to taking on this role, I ran Uber's Marketplace and Maps product teams, which created the best mapping solutions and marketplace technologies in the industry.

Prior to Uber, I was a product leader at Google Maps. My ‘Ground Truth’ team mapped the world from scratch. They collected visual data on the ground pairing it with business data to make Google Maps the most accurate, comprehensive, and useful map used by more than a billion people today.

Earlier in his career, I was a key part of the Asia-Pacific tech and startup scene. I founded an e-commerce startup in Singapore, BuyItTogether.com, right out of college and subsequently sold it to a Norwegian company, CoShopper.com. Subsequently, I managed Hewlett Packard's e-commerce initiatives in Asia-Pacific and Japan.

I grew up in India and studied in Singapore. I studied computer engineering at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and received an MBA from the Indian School of Business in Hyderabad, India.
