Man in Shop

At such an early stage in my possible future career it feels ridiculous to type these words - but one day I will be an actor. Dahling.

When I tell you that I'm a 41-year-old shaven-headed Geordie bloke who lives in the Black Country it sounds even more ludicrous. By now I should be settled with a family and career, shouldn't I? Well, I'm already married and as for the career... I've been there, done that and got bored in the process.

Because life has always got in the way, acting has been an unattainable dream for me for many years, but over recent times I've been inspired by one man - Shane Meadows - and his work on the This is England series. I don't know him, I've never met him, but it's because of him that I am now involved in acting classes.

And that's why I now have a specific ambition among the generality of 'acting'. Even if it's as the uncredited Man in Shop, one day I hope to work with Shane Meadows and be part of the incredible legacy of British film-making.
