As you know, the content you put on your site, and other marketing pieces, must be in order for many reasons that you may not be aware of. No excuses when it comes to locating tons of content writers; two places you can check out are Elance and Guru.com. However, finding the appropriate content writer goes beyond just posting an ad on these freelance sites. Your success will depend on quite a few considerations, and just one of which is aligning your project content needs with a suitable writer.
There are many writers who write articles, for example, but you will find some that specialize in certain markets and niches. You'll come across web content writers, copywriters, bloggers, ghostwriters, etc. So the best approach is to find someone who is along the lines of the kind of writer you need. It is true that many writers can work in other areas, so that is a call you will have to make. So who you decide to get in touch with will be based on quite a few factors.
Take a look at their references, and do not feel shy about contacting them and inquiring about the writer. This is important because unless the freelance writer is just beginning their career, they should be able to give references to their past employers that you can get in touch with. Do not be put-off about checking references, and the amount of time it takes to do it is time well spent. Even if you don't want to go through the whole process, you can judge your writers based on their ability and as well as their willingness to give you the needed references, which will tell you a good deal about their previous works.
We feel there is no reason to give too many details before hiring someone. When you are talking to a freelance writer in an interview, then just expect some questions about your business or products. But do not necessarily become alarmed if someone does not ask a lot of questions. Let's face it; you're looking for a professional writer that knows his job, and takes the time to understand your requirements. So skipping this point can cause you to hire the wrong person.
