Manuel Gomez is a private investigator, civil rights advocate, and decorated military veteran with extensive experience in intelligence, criminal justice, and investigative operations. As principal of Black Ops Private Investigators Inc., he applies the discipline, analysis, and operational skills he developed in the military to complex investigations. Since founding his firm in 2013, he has handled criminal defense investigations, cold cases, and other challenging matters, supporting individuals seeking justice, including efforts that helped exonerate more than 170 wrongfully accused people.
Manuel's career began with military intelligence service as a U.S. Army Intelligence Officer assigned to the 18th Airborne Corps. He served during Desert Storm (1991) and later completed multiple high-threat deployments in Afghanistan (2003–2013). His responsibilities included counterintelligence operations, intelligence gathering, interrogations, protection of U.S. government facilities, and Sensitive Site Exploitation (SSE) missions. Through this work, he developed operational methods for collecting battlefield evidence that military commands, international partners, and government agencies later adopted. He also earned certifications in Counterterrorism and Homeland Security, along with advanced training in electronic bug detection.
After building his military experience, Manuel continued his focus on criminal justice by earning a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and joining the New York Police Department (NYPD) in 1998. After the September 11, 2001 attacks, he was recalled to active duty with the 18th Airborne Corps, where he supported domestic training and counterintelligence defense operations before returning to civilian life.
