MANUEL R. VEGAS

Dr. Manuel R. Vegas (MD, PhD) is native of Burgos/Spain but is currently working in Madrid. He graduated magna cum laude at the University Autonoma de Madrid and received his MD and PhD from that University. Dr. Vegas completed his Plastic Surgery Internship and Residency at the Hospital Doce de Octubre in Madrid. He is Fellow of the European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (EBOPRAS, 1996) and Diplomate of the European Federation for Surgery of the Hand (FESSH, 1998). He had further training and education in Canniesburn (UK), Stanford (US) and Uppsala (Sweden). He is a delegate of the EBOPRAS since many years ago and a member of different national and international plastic and hand surgery societies. At the moment, he is vicepresident of the Spanish Association for Microsurgery (AEM, microcirugia.org). Also interested in medical management, he completed the Healthcare Management Program IESE in 2007. Specially interested in Reconstructive Microsurgery (Head&Neck, Upper and Lower Extremities and Breast), Hand Surgery and Aesthetic Surgery, three of the landmarks of Plastic Surgery, he is currently working in Hospital QUIRON Madrid, Spain. Dr. Vegas has been involved in the plastic surgery training program in different Spanish hospitals and is a member of the editorial board of the Iberolatinoamerican Journal of Plastic Surgery (Cirugia Plastica Iberolatinoamericana)(ciplaslatin.com). Dr. Vegas has authored or co-authored 26 publications in some of the best Spanish and international trauma and plastic surgery journals and has been an invited surgeon and lecturer throughout Europe for the last years.
