Marc Abrahms

A professional fine arts photographer, Marc Abrahms authored a volume of original photography entitled Watercolors, which features a broad range of his images. Noted for its variety of subjects and compositions, Abrahms' photography is displayed in the permanent collections of the United States Library of Congress and the National Geographic Society and has been purchased by private collectors worldwide. Abrahms has also published another book of photography, Traveling Light, which features compositions with unique and evocative lighting.

Deeply committed to service, Marc Abrahms has volunteered as a member of the boards of First Transamerica, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and Hartford Art School, among others. Additionally, he founded and endows The Partnership for Hartford's Hungry, a program that serves over 1,000 meals each month through the House of Bread, a 30-year old community service organization. A firm believer in active volunteer work, Abrahms serves in the kitchen twice a month, cooking specialties such as "Marc's Marvelous Meat Sauce," which contains fresh, lean ground beef and a savory combinations of herbs and spices.

A graduate of Clark University, Marc Abrahms served as the youngest trustee in the school's history. He has contributed financially to the university's art program by funding the Abrahms Darkroom and the Abrahms Gallery. In addition, Marc Abrahms has made substantial donations to other colleges and universities, including Connecticut College, The George Washington University, The University of Hartford, and the former Hartford College for Women. In addition to his work for educational institutions, Abrahms contributes to the work of several medical facilities in West Hartford. A member of the Board and Executive Committee since he was 22, Marc Abrahms has served the Gene and Anja Rosenberg Hebrew Home and Rehabilitation Center for decades.
