Writer in Los Angeles, California
I'm made of carbon, water and curiosity. My two favorite magazines are Nature and Aviation Week and Space Technology. I spent the last three years writing a book about intelligence and the Cold War. Before that, I spent 11 years in Washington covering politics, public policy and the White House.
Based in Los Angeles, I write about national politics, intelligence and national security, I brainstorm with (and for) companies on branded content and strategic communication. I'm also an executive producer on a film, Director's Cut, written by Penn Jillette and directed by Adam Rifkin.
I'm developing television shows, and I've consulted/guested as an on-air and off-air expert on several non-scripted documentaries. I've been nominated for an Emmy and I've won a DuPont Silver Baton.
Through 2011, I was the White House correspondent at National Journal. My niche: aggressive and thoughtful explanatory journalism. I also like to mentor folks who are new to the business(es).
