Marcelo Tas

MARCELO TAS/ bio Marcelo Tas, 51 years old, is a journalist, actor and TV director. Since the early eighties, he has being developing new formats in short fiction and documentaries on Brazilian television. As his famous alter ego, the fictional news reporter “Ernesto Varela”, Tas has interviewed the main Brazilian historic figures. As writer and director, Tas was in the group that have created the children series “Ra-Tim-Bum” at TV Cultura (Brazilian public network), with great national and international recognition for its excelence. Tas has more than a million followers on Twitter and a very active and polemic blog at Terra, one of the main internet portals in Brazil (www.blogdotas.com.br). More recent, Marcelo became the anchor of CQC- Custe o Que Custar- a humor show, aired nationalwide live by BAND TV, network part of the Bandeirantes Communications Group (www.band.com.br). Because of his creative role on contemporary Brazilian TV, was awared Man of the Year 2010 (Isto É- national magazine) and also he has already being granted with the Fulbright Scholarship and the Rockfeller McArthur Foundation Grant, both in the United States.
