Marcelo L. Barros

São Paulo

Hello there! I’m Marcelo, a creative, curious and nitpicky guy, who is interested in unveiling this ‘thing’'s mysteries!

My professional career started back in 1996 as I graduated in Processamento de Dados at FATEC University in the city of Santos, São Paulo – Brazil. Back then, all I wanted was to have a computer and a brain wrecking business rule, that would morph into the best computer program possible.

But things change! As the years went by, my perspective had changed along with the different roles I had in each company. I concluded that what puts quality in a software are the people working on it, not the machine itself.

It is of my belief that people who have more motivation also have more productivity and quality in their work. I also believe that the key to create that commitment is to make people feel like they are an important part of the whole. Sharing what we used to call “power” is something more powerful than any known methodology.

I do reckon that people want the company to have profit with their work, but more than that, they want to make a difference. They want to contribute in any way to achieve success. And when the success is reached, their personal gain will be greater than any kind of bonus.

My main professional goal today is focused in personnel development, helping them reach their own personal and professional goals.

I take ludic and playfulness as the most profound way of learning. I try to always conduct meetings in a creative way, bringing any kind of learning experience to the table, whether by group dynamics or games played in teams. In this aspect, I developed a game, the “Agile Feijoada”, created to teach concepts about team working.

I do not want to have an upfront answer for all questions that may rise, but I do want to help people to reach their own answers, their own truth. I want a good life, but I don’t want an easy ride.

This is who I want to be when i grow old...
