MARCIA LYONS is an American experimental performance artist, writer, director and producer. Lyons gained recognition in the New York art scene during the wave of Media + Performance Art, culminating in many awards, including the prestigious Jules Guerin ROME PRIZE in the Visual Arts at The American Academy in Rome. Fusing site and performance — her work is a brew, inhabiting the live-worlds and traditions of the public art and witnessing sphere, thickened with a rich cross-pollination of methods; painting, photography, sound, dramaturgy and media. In 2014, Lyons became the Creative Industries Researchy Institute (CIRI) Scholar of Live Media Arts, receiving a Doctorate from the Auckland University of Technology in partnership with the European Graduate School, Switzerland. Founder/Producer of CMTV in partnership with BBC/UK iTV Network, Lyons started developing live feed stories from locations around the world for the documentary and fiction space. Currently living and working in Palm Beach, Florida, Lyons has exhibited internationally, with solo shows in London, Rome, New York, Miami, Paris and Tokyo; and worked on international TV & Film productions including The Sopranos, NYPD Blue, 8 Mile and Empire.
