Marco Dorfsman

Durham, NC

An associate professor, Marco Dorfsman joined the Spanish department at the University of New Hampshire (UNH) more than a decade ago. In this position, he oversees a team of 55 faculty members and 12 programs. In addition, he serves as the humanities chair and leads initiatives for the UNH Confucius Institute. His most recent accomplishments include obtaining vital funding from the National Security Agency to carry out a Chinese language camp, and spearheading the initiative to add an Arabic instructor to the staff. Furthermore, Marco Dorfsman is actively involved in the Thompson School, where he partnered to educate students on Chinese language, culture, and food in UNH’s teaching kitchen facilities.

In his spare time, Mr. Dorfsman contributes to the New Hampshire Theatre Project and enjoys playing soccer. In fact, Marco Dorfsman coached various traveling youth soccer teams in the Oyster River, NH, school district and was president of the Oyster River Travel Soccer Association and the Oyster River Youth Association. His other interests include traveling abroad to Europe and North Africa.
