Dr. Marco Ellis is a Chicago plastic surgeon dedicated to delivering exceptional cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia. He completed his residency in plastic surgery at Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine. He followed up his training with a fellowship in craniofacial surgery and head & neck microsurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital and Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. He also completed a research fellowship in congenital and adult jaw surgery at Shriners Hospital for Children in Chicago.
Dr. Ellis practices all aspects of plastic surgery but has expertise in surgery of the face. He has worked with the team based at University of Maryland that completed the most extensive face transplant to date. His unique training, experience and knowledge in facial surgery give him unparalleled expertise in assessing facial form. He treats a variety of problems that range from facial injuries to corrective jaw surgery. He also has special training to perform surgery to relieve migraines and correct sleep apnea.
He has a particular interest in cosmetic surgery for people of color (ethnic eyelid surgery/ nose reshaping). With artistry and meticulous technique, Dr. Ellis contours the face to preserve identity and enhance beauty. In every patient, he evaluates facial proportion and structure of the both the soft tissues and underlying skeletal structures. Every patient receives a comprehensive evaluation about their goals to rejuvenate and restore their natural beauty. His experience in complex facial surgery provides him the versatility to safely employ a broad range of techniques in his cosmetic patients to achieve superior results.
Dr. Ellis has been invited to lecture at national and international symposia on cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. He has co-authored publications and abstracts in premier scientific journals. He has written book chapters on eyelid surgery, craniofacial surgery and breast reconstruction. Dr. Ellis maintains an active role in medical student and resident education at Northwestern University. He has been honored several times for his commitment to teaching and diversity. His peers in graduate medical education awarded him the inaugural Marco Ellis Legacy Award for Diversity.
