Genies de la Fange

Carice, Haiti

The well being of any country rests on the dynamism and wits of its own citizens. For the past 20 years, the steady growth of NGOs around the world, most of them foreign to the host country, have led to the creation of a brand new industry: The Poverty Industry. While we appraise the humanitarian efforts being deployed in countries like Haiti, the reality stays immutable. Haiti still fails globally when it comes to human resources, economic and social growth through engineering and science. Poverty looks good when it's dressed up, most non-profits are just make-up on the people's face. For the most part, the local knowledge is ignored. Genies de la Fange (Haiti Chapter) is a team of scientists, engineers and professionals whose primary goal is to identify Haitian-Inspired/Haitian-invented techniques that the people use on the daily to satisfy its needs in order to mechatronically remodel, or redesign those techniques for greater efficiency , safety and sustainability. Our approach is the following: The people think, we model. Let Haiti build itself. For every challenge encountered in a region, GFHaiti will analyze the way residents of that locality cope with that particular challenge and provide the engineering thinking and tools to improve THEIR solutions.

GFHaiti ‘s effort will target the most basic needs, from clean drinking water, adequate sanitation, reliable passage to local markets , a ride to school to electricity, energy harvesting, landscaping tools, solar energy, security, manufacturing, design, controls and systems, etc…
