The Beekeeper Writer
About Marc Swift
Marc Swift, also known as The Beekeeper Writer, is a British author, beekeeper, entrepreneur and storyteller living in the mountains of central Portugal. After many years working in construction, project management and business, he chose a different path, one centred on creativity, nature, truth, family and a deeper understanding of the world around us.
Marc is the author of Don't Panic! You're Just Awake, a cinematic adventure that explores reality, consciousness and the mysteries hidden beneath everyday life. Inspired by stories such as The Matrix, Inception, Back to the Future and The Goonies, the novel follows a group of teenagers on an extraordinary journey that challenges everything they thought they knew about the world.
He is also the creator of Leila's Light, an imaginative children's book series that blends humour, adventure and curiosity with meaningful themes and a deep respect for nature. Through memorable characters and exciting stories, Marc encourages young readers to think independently, ask questions and embrace the wonder of discovery.
Alongside his writing, Marc runs Mel da Terra, a sustainable honey brand inspired by the bees, forests and landscapes that surround his home. His passion for beekeeping reflects many of the same values found in his books: patience, observation, connection and respect for the natural world.
Through The Beekeeper Writer, Marc brings together storytelling, ecology, creativity and education. His work is driven by a simple belief: that stories have the power to inspire, awaken curiosity and help people see the world through fresh eyes.
When he is not writing, Marc can usually be found tending his bees, exploring forests, surveying old stone buildings, walking mountain trails or working on new creative projects. Whether producing books, honey or ideas, his mission remains the same: to remind people that imagination, wonder and nature are not separate parts of life, but essential parts of what makes us human.
Because sometimes the greatest adventure is not discovering a new world.
It is seeing this one differently.
