Marcus Cashell

Saxonburgh, Pennslyvania

I am currently a Senior sport management student at Slippery Rock University. I am prepared to graduate this May, following my internship as a Sports Marketing/Promotions Intern at Robert Morris University. I believe my experiences throughout my college career have prepared me well to enter the job market. At the end of this year, I will have two seasons of experience in a professional team environment with the Pittsburgh Steelers. On game days, my duties include the coordinating of pre-game and half time events. These include but are not limited to: National Anthem Singers, ATI Soldier Salute recipients, Alumni Honoring Ceremonies, Towel Twirl participants, marching bands, youth football games, etc. In addition to game days the last two years, I have also spent the last two summers at Heinz Field, gaining experience with large scale events hosting over 65,000 people. These events included country music concerts such as Kenny Chesney, Taylor Swift, and Florida Georgia Line. I was part of the Marketing and Entertainment team and worked closely with the Event Operations Department. Together, we planned, organized, and coordinated these large events. Specifically, I worked closely with the performers, tour managers, radio station managers, vendors, and fans. I was in charge of pre-event festivities outside the stadium as well as behind the scene work during the concert. I helped conduct meet and greets and escorted performers to and from their suites. In addition to my work at Heinz Field and the Pittsburgh Steelers, I have experience at the collegiate level. I performed a 50 hour practical experience with Slippery Rock University's Associate Athletic Director. Here, my duties involved managing budgets and finances through an Excel spreadsheet, working football game days, and analyzing current apparel costs and comparing them to Under Armor to decide whether or not to switch to Under Armor.
