Marcus McLaughlin
Most of the time, you'll find me engaged in the development of applications, generally web-based. Programming has been a passion from a young age, and I've been fortunate to work with phenomenal engineers, while building great applications at great places like Intuit, Cloudera, and imeem (RIP). I enjoy all aspects of application development, but my strongest passion lies in the development of user interfaces. No matter how great the functionality is, it's useless if the user can't get to it. I currently have the privilege to lead user experience and front-end engineering at WellnessFX.
At other times, you'll find me on a basketball court. Although I enjoy playing, I greatly enjoy the reach and impact that I can have as a coach. Basketball is a great way to connect with people and teach all manner of lessons, both athletics related and not. I love sharing my skills and knowledge, and coaching with Team Esface allows me to do that.
Finally, at all times, you'll find me deep in analysis and critique of everything around me. My thoughts are my refuge from the illogic and craziness that often occurs in the real world. I'm critical of everything and view everything in the world as something that can be improved upon, and for some reason I think I know how to improve it. I believe that criticism and analysis is the best path to understanding and improvement.
