Mardy Chaplin
A successful attorney and owner of his own Akron, Ohio-based law firm, Mardy Chaplin possesses nearly 15 years of legal expertise. Upon graduating from The University of Akron with his Juris Doctor in 1997, Mr. Chaplin immediately launched his own private law practice, where he currently specializes in providing legal services to the elderly. A staunch supporter of primary, secondary, and higher education, he has balanced his legal practice with teaching at nearby universities and serving in managerial roles for collegiate and statewide education programs.
Graduating magna cum laude from Malone University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Mardy Chaplin enrolled at The Ohio State University upon finishing his undergraduate work. At Ohio State, Mr. Chaplin studied government policy, earned a Student of the Year accolade, and graduated with his Master’s degree in Public Administration in 1983. Beginning in 1985, Mr. Chaplin served as the City of Aurora’s Finance Director for four years, overseeing the city government’s investments and other financial operations. In 1989, he accepted a position as The University of Akron’s Director of Administrative Services within the Department of Physical Facilities. In this new role, Mardy Chaplin helped manage an $8 million budget while handling labor negotiations, payroll functions, human resource duties, and other responsibilities. In addition to holding this position, Mr. Chaplin worked as a part-time Adjunct Instructor at Malone University, teaching an undergraduate course in human resources management.
